Nesting landscapes: This project aims to create an island of greenery, a haven of peace, on an artificial island, itself located in an island country. It thus constitutes a mise en abyme of the landscapes of Bahrain, where the gardens are inspired by the landscape and cultural diversity of the country.
First, a lush heart, originating around a water source where vegetation takes over the shaded corners creating a fresh and green microclimate, which extends towards the sky. A peaceful garden, harmony of the senses where the scent of flowers and the gentle melody of water mingle.
A space that gradually transforms as you approach the ocean. It mineralizes, sculpts and becomes rarefied on contact with sea spray, wind and sunrays to take on the appearance of the island's oceanic coastal landscapes. Here the halophytic vegetation disintegrates and undergoes an anemomorphosis characteristic of the coasts. It takes the form of carpets of grasses which capture the light and the wind on the one hand. Succulent plants saturated with water which project their graphic shadow onto the gravel and which recall the particular pattern of corals on the other hand, or even takes the appearance of a majestic and isolated tree reminiscent of the emblematic tree of life of Bahrain, a plant landmark in a desert landscape. This semi-arid oceanic garden symbolizes the relationship of the island's inhabitants with the Persian Gulf, a sacred place where we observe the sea and the stars and where we believe we hear in the breaking waves the distant song of the fishermen of pearl.
Gardens in which you can reconnect with the landscape, tread on the substrate, stone, sand and gravel, enjoy the shade of a canopy, refresh yourself in salt water or in a cool patio born from a spring. fresh water like the “2 seas”, two waters which give their name to the country. A garden where you can contemplate the sunsets and feel the ocean spray. A haven of peace where you can reconnect with your senses and with the natural elements.
8 villas facing each other separated by a road, are located between two bodies of water, reinforcing the name of its location, Bahrain. The goal was to create smaller artificial worlds on an already artificial island.
