For the Kalani Hotel and Beach Resort, the architects created five guest spaces, effectively refuges, along a 220m shoreline. They drew the sea into the site by creating double-height concrete shells to give the effect of a sailing regatta.
Each living unit is enveloped in a double-height concrete shell planted into the sand. The principal screen for this seafront plot is a palm grove, a vegetal mesh that filters the light between rooms and traces the outlines of the walkways between them. The resort hotel includes 30 rooms, a restaurant and a private beach.
